Aterlo Networks/Preseem Employees Raise $5,000 for Food4Kids Waterloo Region

Aterlo Networks, the maker of the Preseem QoE platform, is happy to announce a $5,000 donation to local nonprofit Food4Kids Waterloo Region.

The money was raised by Aterlo’s 37 employees as part of the growing Waterloo, Ont. tech company’s annual holiday fundraiser. Aterlo matched the amount generated by employee donations to reach the final figure.

Food4Kids Waterloo Region provides healthy food packages for children aged 1-14 during weekends, school breaks, and summers, when youngsters from food-insecure homes are not able to access school nutrition programs.

Founded in September 2016, the nonprofit initially began by providing nutritious food packages to 19 children at six schools. With volunteer and financial support from the community, they now support 1,200 children at over 90 schools in the region.

“Children are our future. As a community, we need to show these severely food-insecure children that we care enough to invest in them,” said Faune Lang, Manager, Fund Development and Community Engagement at Food4Kids Waterloo Region. “We are more than just food. We fight hunger, feed hope, and build healthy futures.”

As reported by the Region of Waterloo and Food4Kids, 10% of households in the area struggle with food insecurity. This means that an estimated 3,000 children don’t have access to nutritious food, a factor critical in maintaining physical and mental health.

As the cost of food and other goods and services continue to rise, families often have to face the impossible choice between paying rent and buying groceries. Food4Kids Waterloo Region fills this crucial need by providing healthy food options for families in need year-round.

“We are thrilled to support such a great community organization,” said Gerrit Nagelhout, CEO of Aterlo. “Food4Kids provides a sadly necessary service to the most vulnerable members of our community. Their work has both an immediate and long-term impact on the lives of the children they serve and our community as a whole. We’re proud to support Food4Kids and honoured to contribute to their truly essential work.”
