CanWISP 2019
CanWISP 2019 is the annual conference of Canadian Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs). The seventh edition of this much-anticipated event will start on Monday, March 25th.
Hosted by the Canadian Association of WISPs (CanWISP), this year’s event is expected to see over 200 attendees, 25 exhibitors/vendors, as well as industry experts and consultants.
Held at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Ottawa/Gatineau, the event is just five minutes from downtown Ottawa.
CanWISP 2019 features an interesting mix of technical and other sessions. This includes some interesting sessions, such as “Understanding Millennials,” as well as regulatory sessions on spectrum sharing, telecom policy, and related topics. Participants get an opportunity not only to learn from the speakers but also to build connections with their peers. It’s also the perfect opportunity to learn and get inspiration from other Canadian WISPs as the fixed wireless industry continues to grow.
WISPs can also discover some of the latest products and services for the fixed wireless industry at the event. Leading manufacturers like Cambium Networks, Telrad, and Baicells will be joined by many leading service providers, including Lintechs, Sonar and, of course, Preseem!
Agenda
Preseem will be exhibiting at CanWISP 2019 for the first time. Being a Canadian company, we’re excited to be participating in a fixed wireless conference here at home!
CanWISP 2019 will start with a wine-and-cheese reception at 5 p.m. on Monday, followed by a gala dinner. Tuesday, March 26th, begins with a welcome session and “speed dating” exercise at 8:30 a.m. Dedicated exhibit hall time starts at 3:15 p.m. and continues alongside the cocktail hour, ending at 5 p.m.
There’s a lot of time after 6 p.m. on Tuesday for participants to mingle with other guests or attend networking dinners. Similarly, Wednesday, March 27th features more sessions, culminating in lunch around noon. The CanWISP AGM (for members only) begins around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. In other words, CanWISP 2019 will be over for most participants around lunchtime on Wednesday.

CanWISP 2019: Getting the Most Value
Speaker sessions and panels are always enlightening and highly sought after by conference participants. However, the real value at a show like CanWISP 2019 can come from informal networking. For example, conversations with fellow ISP owners and consultants help owners and operators build meaningful, long-term connections.
Networking with vendors has its own advantages as well. For instance, establishing first-name connections at vendor companies can lead to advance access to beta solutions, special deals, or just a better overall relationship.
CanWISP 2019’s agenda also includes frequent breaks and dedicated networking times to encourage participants to chat.
