Packet Pushers recently published an interesting episode of the Heavy Networking podcast about QUIC. QUIC is a new transport protocol that is already used by Google and is currently being standardized by the IETF. Learning about QUIC alone is worthwhile for anyone interested in networking but there are also some very good side discussions on congestion control (TCP Reno, Vegas, BBR, etc) and the role that active queue management (AQM) may play in the future.

At Preseem we’re big fans of active queue management (AQM) techniques. We leverage FQ-CoDel specifically to improve network performance and customer experience. These techniques do great things for network performance without the complexity of application-specific features or policies.
